The fingerboard of the DR-100 is constructed from rosewood. The resilience of this durable wood makes the fingerboard extremely balanced and stable, and gives each chord and note clarity and bite.
Angled Headstock
Unlike cheaper designs, all Epiphones feature a 14-degree headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut and so you get more sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by "string-tree" gadgets.

The fret ends were nicely dressed. The neck was straight. There was no glue squeezing out from under the bracing. The headstock has an actual inlay instead of a decal. It sounded a little tinny with stock strings, as other reviews here have noted, so I put some Martin 9s on it to ease him into callused fingers. It sounds really good! My own acoustic is a Seagull with a cedar top. The spruce on the Epiphone is a little brighter, but not at all harsh. The neck is surprisingly thin and narrow. Good for smaller hands. It's a lot like an Ibanez electric neck, in fact. It may not project like a Gibson, but I wasn't at all displeased with its tone, which will only improve with time.
